Newton's Corpuscular theory and interference Empty Newton's Corpuscular theory and interference

The interference of light could not be explained using Newton's corpuscular theory.

The theory suggests that light consists of corpuscles. These would not be diffracted by the double slits.
The corpuscles would pass through each slit forming a bright fringe on the screen
There are only 2 slits, so only 2 bright fringes would be seen on the screen.
More than 2 fringes are observed which cannot be explained using corpuscular theory.
Dark fringes, which are observed cannot be produced with corpuscles.
